Collection Notice
This notice explains how we collect, use and manage your personal information when you sign up to receive our newsletter through our online webform. The webform can be found on the footer of our website, or on the Contact page.
By submitting your details via the webform, you are consenting to receiving newsletter emails from the Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) Commission. The DFSV Commission is committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (cth) and the DFSV Commission’s Privacy Policy. The DFSV Commission is also assisted by the Department of Social Services (Department) in performing our functions and activities, which may include providing services on our behalf. What we collect
When you complete the webform to subscribe to our newsletter, we must collect your email address to be able to send you emails.
The following optional information can also be volunteered:
- State or territory
- What kind of audience member you are (for example: government agency, person with lived experience, community member)
We do not collect any other personal or sensitive information as part of this webform.
Whilst the webform is voluntary, providing your email address is required as part of the webform if you wish to subscribe to the DFSV Commission’s newsletter. If you do not provide it, we will not be able to provide you with the newsletter.
How we use your information
We collect this information solely for the purpose of:
- Sending you the Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commission’s newsletter
- Understanding the broad viewership of our communications
- Sending newsletters curated for specific audiences
Your information will only be used for these purposes, and your details will be stored securely by our contracted email distribution platform, Swift Digital, for the purpose of sending you updates.
Storage and security
Your email address, state and sector information will be securely stored by the DFSV Commission in Australia on our contracted email distribution platform, Swift Digital.
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
We will not disclose your email address or other information to third parties unless required by law.
How to unsubscribe
You can remove yourself from the mailing list at any time by:
- Clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ link included in every newsletter email, or
- Contacting us directly at media@dfsvc.gov.au to request your details be removed.
Once you unsubscribe, we will permanently delete your email address, unless it becomes a Commonwealth record as defined by the Archives Act 1983 (Cth). Commonwealth records may only be destroyed in accordance with this Act.
