Speaking from experience

Members of the Commission's Lived Experience Advisory Council are testament to how the perspectives of those lived experience are transforming efforts to end domestic, family and sexual violence. Their insights reveal opportunities to improve services, strengthen policy, and bring about the change that their voices can make possible. 

Tiffiny

Tiffiny is a lived experience advocate and survivor of childhood sexual abuse and family violence. She explains the advantages that lived experience brings to all of us as we work to end gender-based violence - the nuance and detail to understand problems more deeply, see around corners, and more.

Akii

Akii is a neurodivergent, gender-diverse, trans non-binary queer person of colour from a refugee background, living with complex chronic illnesses, chronic pain, and, due to intimate partner violence, physical disability. They are committed to centring diverse, intersectional experiences in policy and solutions.

Vinnie’s work in children and young people’s justice and rights, combined with his own childhood lived experiences, fuels his passion for raising awareness around preventing and responding to domestic, family, and sexual violence affecting children young people.

The Hon Ged Kearney MP

The Hon Ged Kearney MP attended a Council meeting at the beginning of her term as Assistant Minister for Social Services and Assistant Minister for the Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence in mid-2025. She heard their priorities firsthand, enabling her to understand whether Government is moving forward on the right path.
