Second Action Plan Submission

Between June and August 2026, the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS) led extensive consultations across Australia as the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2032 approached its halfway point.

This submission outlines priority areas for the next five years of the National Plan under the Second Action Plan, drawing on consistent themes that emerged through consultations led by the Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) Commission.

Consultations comprised a series of roundtables centred on specific areas of focus, including:

• Dedicated lived experience consultations including young people, people with experience of the family law system, families bereaved by femicide, and disability rights organisations
• Roundtables focused on multicultural communities, LGBTIQA+SB communities, sex worker collectives, regulatory frameworks for essential services, and media standards.

Several of the consultations were co-convened with relevant sector organisations and experts, people with lived experience and government partners. The DFSV Commission gratefully acknowledges the expertise, generosity and leadership of all participants who contributed to the consultation process.

Insights emerging from each consultation will continue to inform the DFSV Commission’s work, including inputs that were not captured in written submissions.
